Best Places to Find Cheap Home Organization and Storage
You will learn where to buy cheap home organization and storage options to help you get your home in order without breaking the bank.
I constantly search for cheap home organization solutions, because there is always something to organize. And when I feel organized, I’m much more productive and at ease.
What doesn’t put me at ease? Spending a ton on home organizations and storage options. Who needs that?! While it’s easy to be tempted by beautiful, shiny bins from The Container Store, those can add up quickly.
Here are some affordable home storage products that will help you get organized in the new year. I own some of these and have others on my wish list.

Walmart
Walmart has an incredible amount of cheap storage solutions. Their basket selection is, in my opinion, better than Target’s! Plus, it is more affordable.
Throughout my days of basket-buying, I’ve learned a few tips that you should keep in mind.
- Opt for seagrass over chunky woven materials, which tend to leave little pieces everywhere. If your goal is to become organized, I don’t think you want to be vacuuming little basket bits every day.
- Soft cotton rope baskets work really well for small toys and books. They don’t scratch little hands, nor do they shed. Plus they aren’t very heavy!
While I get most of my home storage solutions from Amazon, I’ve got a lot of baskets at Walmart on my wishlist. I don’t think you can ever have too many baskets, and you get a lot for your money when shopping at Walmart.

Acrylic and Plastic Storage
Amazon has a really good selection of acrylic and plastic storage options. I have many, and I’m always impressed with the quality and affordable prices. And you cannot beat the convenience of Amazon Prime! And of course my love of Amazon storage solutions doesn’t stop at their acrylic and plastic inventory!
I think I have about 24 of these stackable plastic bins. They come in sets of 12, so they are perfect for large jobs, such as storing and organizing toys and Legos. You can use the lids or leave them off, depending on where you store the filled plastic bins. I used these chalkboard labels, but you could also make your own labels with your printer or Cricut. (Because there is nothing worse than a bin full of mixed up toys, in my opinion!)

I love to display my fashion and hair accessories in my closet. Hair ties tend to hide and disperse themselves around the house. So I keep them on this acrylic hair tie organizer! You can also store clips and bobby pins in the center. The only caveat is that you have to spill its contents to find the clip or pin that you want.
Still, I like knowing I can stack my scrunchies and elastics all in one place. Plus, scrunchies are too cute to hide away!

Jewelry boxes or drawers can be great, but for my necklaces and bracelets, I’ve been loving this two-tiered acrylic jewelry display! This way, I can readily see what I have when I am putting together an outfit!

I also have this 360 degree rotating makeup organizer, and it has made my life SO much easier. It keeps my brushes, skincare, and makeup all in one place. I highly recommend it! You just have to do some light assembly when you get it. And bonus: You get to pick and choose the placement and height of the shelves, and you can remove the smaller compartments on top if you have to.

Baskets and Bookshelves
Tired of your kids’ bookshelf looking like a stacked up, sloppy mess? No matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t get my girls to properly put away books on a traditional bookshelf. This book rack with sleeves has solved the case of the messy books.
The girls easily slide the books back into their sleeves after a reading session. We have way more books than in the photo below, so I keep some in a large storage bin and rotate books periodically. I thought about buying a second book rack (The price is sooooo affordable), but I haven’t gotten to that point yet.

These seagrass baskets are really versatile because they are also decorative. Initially, I had these baskets sitting in the built-ins in my living room. But then, I realized I had a need for them in my mudroom to hold gloves, hats, earmuffs, and other outerwear items that we tend to misplace.
Now, each person in our family has his or her own basket for miscellaneous items! These baskets look really good doing their job! I love a good functional decorative accent!

Target
Bullseye Playground at Target has tons of super affordable storage options! I also love their new Brightroom selection! If you browse other baskets at Target, say from Hearth & Hand or Opalhouse, the cuteness sucks you in. But then, at the cash register, you notice the damage. So try to stick with storage options from Bullseye Playground and Brightroom, or wait for a good sale!
I personally have 3 of these coiled rope baskets, and I keep small toys in them!

Final Thoughts on Best Places to Find Cheap Organization and Storage
I’ve checked other retailers, such as Overstock and The Home Depot, but I just do not feel as though their prices are worth your time.
If you’re looking for larger baskets (or even shelving) with affordable prices, Walmart has an amazing selection.
Amazon is my go-to retailer for cheap home organization and storage. I’ve got a lot of tried-and-true storage options from Amazon, as you noticed above.
I feel that Target has the least amount of cheap storage options, but if you search really hard, you can find them. Just try not to get sucked in to Hearth & Hand’s beautiful storage containers, because I feel that they are overpriced. You could find look-alikes at Walmart.
Are you trying to get organized this year??
