8 Winter Outfits with Black Leggings and Boots
This post was updated on Dec. 3, 2022.
I love jeans, but once the temperature drops below freezing, I cannot resist throwing on a pair of black leggings.
Do you get stuck in the old leggings and sweatshirt rut? There are so many more ways to wear black leggings to help you avoid the dreaded outfit boredom.
These 8 winter outfits with black leggings with boots will keep you cute and comfy throughout the chilly months!
Oversized Chenille Sweater + Statement Boots
Oversized sweaters are always great tops to wear with leggings. Their slouchiness and length balances out the slimness of the leggings. And I always love a good cream and black look!!
You can easily create your own statement boots to complete the look. Just grab a pair of hiking boots and swap out the laces for red ones!
Varsity Cardigan + Combat Boots
Oh my goodness, I love varsity cardigans! They are usually oversized and comfortable and have the perfect length for leggings. You can also pair varsity cardigans with sweatpants, mini skirts, and jeans. Plus, you can wear them in pretty much any season!
Instead of pairing the cardigan with sneakers, try edgy combat boots!
Bonus: Varsity cardigans give off major 90s vibes! The 90s are totally having a moment right now!
Puffer Vest + Statement Boots
Where we live in Pennsylvania, I find lots of moderate days where I don’t need a full on parka. I throw a puffer vest over a cozy cowl neck top or flannel, and I’m good to go!
Tip: Make sure your top is a longer length unless you want to feel more exposed.
Puffer Vest + Plaid
Don’t you just love a good red plaid in winter? It never goes out of style!
Below, I’m wearing the same puffer vest with a plaid boyfriend shirt. I switched out the statement boots for a more neutral pair.
Again, this outfit with black leggings is perfect for temperatures around 55 degrees.
All Black + White Boots
All black with a pop of white! Yep, I said it! I’m using white as a color here!
If you don’t have a pair of black and white combat boots yet, your outfits are totally missing out. White boots give off style boss vibes by turning a basic outfit into an interesting look.
Color Block Fleece
I save my pullover fleeces for super cold days, as I feel they keep me very warm. Instead of going for athleisure with a pair of sneakers, again, try combat boots.
Tip: I layered my fleece over a long tank to lengthen out the look.
Animal Print Dress + Cardigan
I wore this outfit for Thanksgiving!! You really need a mid-length cardigan in your life if you don’t already have one! If I had opted for a cropped cardigan, this outfit wouldn’t have been appealing. The eye wouldn’t have known where to focus. (And I’m afraid the black leggings would have been the focus! Totally not what you want.)
Because I went for a longer cardigan (but not too long), this look is very streamlined and clean.
Graphic Tee + Oversized Hoodie
Unless my tee is super oversized, I don’t like to wear it with leggings. I find an exception to this rule when I add an oversized hoodie or shacket, which you can wear on or tied around your waist.
Because this outfit is pretty basic, I opted for faux leather leggings this time. Sometimes leggings can steal the show!!
