What I Pack for My Family Before Heading Out on a Summer Adventure

My family and I spend our summers on-the-go. Whether we are heading to the pool for the day, taking a day trip to the beach, or planning a last-minute getaway, I always have to be prepared. With two little girls, life can be unpredictable, for sure! And being a stay-at-home-mom, I have to make sure my hard-working husband has what he needs, too, especially when it comes to our summer adventures. Here are 4 necessities I always pack in the bag no matter where we are headed!
Hanes Ultimate Xtemp/Fresh IQ Tees
Husbands (bless their hearts), tend to forget things. And (bless their hearts again), they sometimes end up with more food on their clothes than the kids! Thankfully, Hanes has my husband COVERED with their Ultimate Xtemp/Fresh IQ Tees.

These tees for men are extremely soft (Surprisingly, soft t-shirts can be so hard to find!). Plus, they have a really neat feature: They have a patented Xtemp temperature control technology that keeps you cool! And with the sweltering 100-degree humid conditions we have been experiencing here on the East Coast, these tees are a goldmine.
My husband loves to pair his Hanes tees with shorts during the day, but he also likes to keep some in his nightstand to wear to bed. He says they help keep him cool and odor-free all night long! Yes, they have Odor Control Technology!
So of course we have to toss these tees in our bag before we head out on any summer adventures!
Medipro first aid pods from me4kidz™
Since summer seems to precipitate more adventurous behavior, I absolutely love having these Medipro first aid pods from me4kidz™. Since having kids, I like to keep first aid at my fingertips, and these neatly organized pods take all the work out of it for me!

Kids (and adults) often need more than just bandages, which certainly won’t remove a splinter! Here are just a few of the latex & allergy friendly items in this first aid kit:
- bandages of various types and sizes
- splinter remover
- instant cold pack
- sting free antiseptic wipes (These are MUST in my house.)
- antibiotic ointments
- cotton tipped applicators
- exam gloves

And if you are going on a more subdued summer adventure, you can just pick and choose which items you may need and take along one of the pod portions. Just add the lid! You don’t want to be digging in your beach bag for strewn about items.

UltraSwim Chlorine Removal Shampoo
I am pretty sure most people encounter the swimming pool during their summer adventures. And having spent much of my youth in the pool as a competitive swimmer, I sure know that chlorine can totally wreck my hair. Swimmer’s hair is dry, brittle, tangled, and even greenish. Ugh! (I ended up with a pixie cut for most of my teen years!!) And I can definitely see the negative effects of chlorine on my daughters’ hair, too.

But now I kick that pool hair back into the pool with UltraSwim Chlorine Removal Shampoo. Not only is this shampoo the master of chlorine removal, but it moisturizes and makes hair easier to comb-thru after washing. It moisturizes hair effectively while removing the dreaded chlorine odor. Plus, it’s gentle enough to use every day!!
Standard hotel shampoos just don’t cut it for my family during summer adventures. We always make sure we pack the UltraSwim Shampoo!
MAGLITE® Solitare LED and Mini Maglite® PRO LED
Summertime often equates to staying outside too late with the kids for various activities. It’s so hard to go inside sometimes once dusk hits because the temperature gets so nice! Then the fireflies come out and all the kids want to do is chase them! I know I’ve endured scenarios where I totally wish I had brought a flashlight along.
Now no matter where my adventures take my family, I’m prepared with the MAGLITE® Solitare LED and Mini Maglite® PRO LED. Here’s whats good:
MAGLITE® Solitare LED Keychain Flashlight

- fits perfectly on your keychain, backpack, or purse
- beam throw of 50 yards

Boy, do I wish I had these items when we traveled halfway across the country in an RV with two 2 year olds. (true story) Yeah, definitely don’t recommend doing that, but if you’re feeling up for it, be sure to pack all of the above!!
What’s one thing you always take with you when packing for summer trips?
