Summer 2023 Fashion Trends You Need to Try!
This post is all about summer 2023 fashion trends I am so excited about! By the end of this article, you will know which fashion trends to try (and which trends to avoid). You will be so eager to add them to your wardrobe!
Some fashion trends can be fun to purchase and wear, while others can be a hard pass! For example, you won’t catch me in low-rise jeans or cargo pants just because they are in style. You can try fashion trends while keeping your style “you.”
Plus, you don’t want to waste money on trendy pieces, especially if you they don’t fit into your lifestyle. If you aren’t drawn to it or don’t love it, don’t buy it! But it feels so good and exciting to partake in the fashion trend world, and you can usually find one or two fashion trends that you can mix in with your existing wardrobe.
I have become obsessed with 3 particular fashion trends for summer 2023, and I think you will find that they are easy to wear and incorporate into your everyday style.
Summer 2023 Fashion Trends You’ll Love
1. Crochet
Don’t be afraid of crochet. Not all crochet is see-through. And for the pieces that are, layer under a simple cami or bralette. You can even wear crochet items as beach cover-ups.
I get such good vibes from crochet clothes. Think free-spirited, relaxed, and beachy vibes. They are quirky but cute, and eye-catching and stylish.
And the fun doesn’t stop at clothes: Try out crochet bags, shoes, and other accessories. Just don’t wear all your crochet at one time.

Go as traditional as crochet granny squares or as modern as simple crochet knit, like the matching set above.

2. Checker Print
Checkering is a trend that I feel you can always wear. Although it is trending at the moment, it’s basic enough to stand the test of time. Remember when everyone was gingham-obsessed a few years back? You can still wear gingham today and not look out-of-style.
Checkered fashion pieces embody a subtle quirkiness that’s sure to catch others’ attention. Plus, it is super simple to incorporate into your wardrobe. You could easily pair a checkered top with denim shorts and sneakers for a fresh summer outfit. Or, you could wear a checker-free outfit accented with a checkered hair clip or checkered bag.

3. Coastal Cowgirl
There are a few important components to the coastal cowgirl trend:
- flowy dresses
- lots of summery white
- cowgirl boots
- denim
So… How does this all work? Here is an example: Take the white top in the graphic below, pair it with your favorite denim shorts, and add accessories such as a beachy brim hat, cowgirl boots, and layered jewelry. Alternatively, pair the denim romper with the lacy kimono with the same accessories. Not into denim? Throw on the flowy dress and white cowgirl boots.
Note: Stick to cowgirl boots in white or light, summery colors. These cute flower western boots are adorable!

Summer 2023 Fashion Trends You Should Avoid
Remember, these are only my opinions. But, you won’t catch me in the following fashion trends this summer:
- cargo pants or shorts: I think they are too boxy, bulky and unflattering. This trend needs to go back to the year 2002 and take a seat.
- tennis outfits: Unless you are actually playing tennis, these outfits seem to costumey.
- low-rise shorts or jeans: That doesn’t work for all body types at all!
Final Thoughts
I like all three of these summer 2023 fashion trends. It’s really difficult to choose a favorite! And I do believe you can wear these trends in any year, because they each capture moments from other style moments, such as 90s and boho.
When I polled my Instagram followers, they chose the crochet trend.
