If I could only wear 1 outfit for the rest of my life… For me, that is an easy sentence to finish! I am quite confident that most of you would agree with my decision here. (If you feel otherwise, I would love to hear what your choice would be!)
There was a time when I would never NOT wear jeans. Now it’s leggings. Black leggings. Leggings have to be the most comfortable form of clothing every created. They look put-together. You can dress them up or down, and black leggings go with pretty much anything. They are universal! I own at least 10 pairs of black leggings so that it is almost always certain that I will have a pair at my fingertips when I am stumbling around during the morning rush. If I have a pair of black leggings, I can make any top (or shoes, for that matter) work. In fact, I am wearing them as I write this.
My favorite brand? If you have been following my blog, the answer will come as no surprise to you. If you are interested in buying yourself a pair or two, I feel that they run a little large. I wear a size smaller than I would usually go for. (If it helps, I am 5’10” and wear a small in them.)

Why 3/4 sleeves? Long sleeves can sometimes get in the way of certain activities…like stuffing a turkey or giving the kids a bath. When I wear 3/4 sleeves, I don’t even know they are there! Honestly, who wants to sense their clothes all day? I don’t have time for that! I want to know I look cute and forget about it for the rest of the day. Hmm… I am actually also wearing (in addition to the black leggings) a 3/4 sleeve top sweatshirt-like top right now! Well, technically the top has long sleeves, but since they are a slight bit short on my giraffe body, I rolled the up 1/4. You can make any long sleeves 3/4 length!
Also, I can generally feel pretty comfortable temperature-wise in 3/4 length sleeves (except for when it is 90 degrees outside). If I decide to wear short sleeves, I have to use extra brain power to anticipate whether I need to wear or bring along a jacket or cardigan. And when I don’t have the energy for that brainpower, 3/4 length sleeves save me time.
As for the perfect length for the top? I like my tops to hit my upper thighs or below (unless I am heading to an edgy place at nighttime or when I want to really catch my husband’s eye). I feel self-conscious when my backside is only adorned by leggings.
I know I am not the only one who loves Converse. Even though they have pretty much zero arch support, I still own multiple pairs. Why? They can transform any outfit. They can make a dress more casual or unique. A simple pair of Converse can make sweatpants less sweatpant-y because they are less athletic looking than your Nikes. (No one really goes to the gym in Converse.) You can wear them with shorts. The list goes on and on!
Plus, I have extremely narrow feet, and flats and heels never stay on my feet- my heels are too narrow. Converse are offered in an endless amount of colors, prints, and textures. My most recent pair is a black sequin pair I found on clearance at Journeys. I am currently on the hunt for a leopard pair. And if they had the ones below in my freakishly-long-foot size? I’d be all over them.
And most importantly, whether they are high or low, Converse look amazing with leggings!!
It’s really helpful to determine the specifics of your ultimate outfit… The outfit you would choose to wear for the rest of your life. Why? You can save money, be a more efficient shopper, and make it more likely that you will be comfortable in your outfit, both physically and mentally. When you’re comfortable with your outfit, you are more comfortable in your own skin, and you can be more productive in all areas of life!
So there you have it. Those 3 components would be a part of the 1 outfit I would wear for the rest of my life…my favorite, ultimate outfit. As I finish this post, it is the day after I began, and I am wearing (You guessed it.) a 3/4 length sleeve sweatshirt, black leggings, and Converse. And that is why I own multiple colors of Converse and leggings. Since I am not stuck wearing one outfit for the rest of my life, I have to mix it up a little and keep it exciting!
That’s what’s up in fashion today. What is you ultimate outfit? Do you agree with me, or would you choose jeans, a skirt, flats… I would LOVE to hear! Please comment. Let’s get this discussion going!
