This dress and this brand fit me to a T. I encountered Compendium Boutique’s products at a pop-up shop for the first time while I was at the shore this summer. Compendium’s mission was displayed on a banner near all of the beautiful, unique clothes, and when I read it, I couldn’t believe it! My mission as a blogger, sharing realistic fashion, beauty, and lifestyle choices, is highly based on affordability, uniqueness, and functionality. The founder of Compendium believes in giving local artisans a chance, which means you won’t find her selection of items on the mass market. The moment I saw this dress, I had to have it. I didn’t even try it on (despite the store credit only return policy)! I fell in love with the mixture of materials and sorbet colors. Thank goodness it was highly affordable, because I had already done some damage in a surf shop down the street. My only dilemma was finding an occasion to wear it before summer’s end!
Last night, my husband snuck away for a delicious dinner to celebrate our 9th wedding anniversary. This dress makes for the perfect end-of-summer date night outfit. I originally thought I wanted to use a cream-colored clutch or purse, but as I studied my collection in my closet, I changed my mind. I chose a pewter shade instead and carried it from head-to-toe with silver sandals and a Fenghui pearl necklace and earrings set that my husband had surprised me with upon returning from a trip to Shanghai. Actually, for the last official weekend of summer, I think the pewter shade was the better choice. Since the prom dress is so summery with its mint and peach combination, cream accessories would have made the outfit too starkly summer. Shop the look after you view the photos.
Foldover Clutch: Steve Madden- no longer available. Here is a similar one.
Necklace and Earrings: Authentic Fenghui pearls from China
Sandals: Enzo Angiolini
Ring: from TJ Maxx- similar style here.
Bracelet: Lagos (This was a Christmas gift.)
I also wanted to share my manicure! I have acrylics with gel polish so that I don’t have to fuss with them for two weeks. I used to paint them on my own, but with these little ones running around, it’s just too difficult, and acrylics help my gel polish last longer. I usually always get the base color, Gel II in Extreme French Pink, but this time I had my manicurist add some gold glitter on top.
That’s what’s up in chic, affordable, date night fashion. I hope you liked my look. Have you found any clothing lately that you just had to have? Let me know in the comments!
